You Were Created for Greatness: A Philosophy on Wholeness by Jackson Hale is an informative and inspiring guide that tackles health and well-being from a biblical perspective. Drawing its foundation from numerous scriptural passages, the work shows how taking care of one’s body is a form of worship. Hale who has a background in physical therapy and is the founder of 360wellness, a non-profit Christian Wellness Center, covers specific components of the topics in what the guide names as the keys of wellness. They comprise nutrition, faith, mindfulness, recovery, and exercise. To begin the wellness process, the book emphasizes first the need to define the purpose of embarking on the journey.
Each chapter that follows contains practical and applicable advice specific to each topic. In the second chapter which discusses recovery, for instance, Hale suggests body recovery solutions such as taking walks, resting, and taking deep breaths. On the topic of exercise, he proposes having an active hobby, or a walking routine, among others. At the end of each chapter, the book reserves space for reflection. These sections contain questions that also help in understanding and applying the information in the book. I love that You Were Created for Greatness tackles an important topic that is often misunderstood among Christian circles.
