The anthology 12 New Stories of Christmas contains material from five authors with slightly differing backgrounds. Broxson joined an internet group for writers in 2021 and wished to share some of his and the other writers' work after his positive experience. As you sample the fiction and nonfiction pieces, you will discover stories about sacrifice, innocent laughter, wishes coming true later than expected, reviving holiday traditions, and making new ones. Some of the stories are about events from decades ago, offering nostalgia and reviving the Christmas spirit. Holiday happiness is shared from traditional and untraditional circumstances, and the authors discuss Christmas traditions for readers to enjoy and possibly include in their holidays.

The authors give a glimpse of Christmas through the perspective of characters in twelve different Christmas stories. Each selection is unique, providing holiday viewpoints from the perception of Americans and non-Americans. The brief tales are easy to read and very descriptive, sometimes evoking a physically emotional response to the words. With each author's amazing gift of storytelling, readers learn just as much about the characters from the brief selections as they do from full-length novels. It's hard to tell the fiction from the non-fiction selections as the narrators tell the stories as if they experienced every devastating, beautiful, and heartwarming detail. These short pieces could be read or shared during the twelve days of Christmas or at a book club in December. Readers who love Christmas stories with positive messages will enjoy 12 New Stories of Christmas.

This book surprised me. What I appreciate most is the depth at which these five authors operate. These twelve stories may seem run-of-the-mill, but that's a surface judgement. Read these stories and decide for yourself.
