In 2015, Lasse Toft was taken to the hospital ICU for a severe injury, and it took ten days for him to wake up and realize that he was going to spend a long time in the hospital recovering. His hospital stint lasted six months. In this light-hearted memoir, Toft recounts his hospital experiences and offers some valuable and entertaining tips for other patients to make their treatment period a little bit easier and fun. Toft's 70 Things You Can Do While Being Hospitalized is specifically designed to make your stay at the hospital feel like a vacation. Some ingenious ways to pass your time in the hospital include playing medicine roulette with fellow patients, faking your own death, singing songs for a little extra money, creating your own fair in the lobby, and more.

As someone who has been through some hospital stints, I wish I'd had this book with me. Humor is the best medicine, and 70 Things You Can Do While Being Hospitalized perfectly demonstrates that age-old adage. Imaginative and hilarious in equal measure, this delightful memoir/motivational guide will make you chuckle out loud and leave you with a smile on your face. At the end of each chapter, Lasse Toft also provides footnotes sharing personal anecdotes on how he dealt with the unexpected circumstances surrounding his recovery in the hospital. These 70 tips are not exactly practically applicable but very entertaining. If you or any of your loved ones spend a lot of time in hospitals, this book is a must-read. I loved it and found it very funny and motivational. Grab a copy and make the best out of your hospital stay!
