A Day with Grandpa: Little Island Sunshine by Dallacey E Green is a cute little children’s story. Novie is excited to spend the day with her fisherman grandpa on the island of Antigua. Grandpa shows Novie the beauty of the island as they explore it together.

I read A Day with Grandpa: Little Island Sunshine with my four-year-old. She liked the story because parts of it take place on the beach. I am ashamed that I had to look up where the island of Antigua is located. I also had to look up exactly what sea grapes are. I have never heard of them before, but now I would like to try them. The thing I really liked about this book was that Green had vocabulary words in the back of the book. My daughter was able to read most of this story by herself, but the vocabulary words helped make the book more fun for her.

The illustrations are very colorful and make the island of Antigua look fun. I did not expect to learn anything from this book, but I did. I hope to actually visit Antigua one day. Overall, my daughter and I really enjoyed this book. We look forward to reading more books by Green in the future and learning more about island life.
