Alexandra Dalton is still unsure of her affections towards her estranged husband, Rick, but knows that she has to work with him to try to regain the closeness they once had. A Fearful Thing: A Dalton & Dalton Paranormal Mysteries, Book 2 by Kathleen Marks and Ronda Gibb Hinrichsen picks up after the death of Alex’s Uncle Henry and the successful resolution of the murder of his wife, as well as that of the father of a young boy. As they receive word that there has been another kidnapping similar to that of their own daughter, Alex and Rick leave Massachusetts for Niagara Falls where they hope to use their preternatural abilities to find a connection between the two crimes. Joined by Rick’s treasure hunting friends, they encounter ghosts guarding a haunted chest full of coins, as well as real life scoundrels who seem to be after children with special abilities. With the help of Ivy, Alex’s glowing cat, they track down the men involved, but will Alex bring them to justice or find herself a victim of their nefarious goals?
Kathleen Marks and Ronda Gibb Hinrichsen write with tremendous passion and plenty of exciting action. A Fearful Thing: A Dalton & Dalton Paranormal Mysteries, Book 2 is full of emotion. Alex, a wonderfully strong and determined character, is a woman ahead of her time as she pursues criminals and treasure, all without a care for the conventions of a society that believed women should stay at home and be ladies. For tremendous suspense, a building romance, and heart-pounding exploits, this novella can’t be beat.
