A Guide to Southern Arizona's Historic Farms and Ranches: Rustic Southwest Retreats by Lili DeBarbieri speaks in detail about the culture, heritage, history, cuisine, and farming of the place. The book is a delight. It touches on many aspects of the area. It can be termed as a history book which can be of great help in libraries; it can also be looked on as a travelogue with details of traveling in Southern Arizona. I like reading these types of books. They give a different perspective about a country or a state and it is like going on a trip. By the time you complete the book, your knowledge about Southern Arizona will be enhanced. The book is very detailed, taking the reader into the midst of the place.

The author also speaks about properties and ranches from a historic angle to make them more appealing and interesting to buyers. The book makes you want to visit all the places listed by the author. The narration is so inviting that you feel like catching the very next plane and going to Southern Arizona.

A few poems and recipes help the reader to capture the essence of the place. The Sonoran desert, the prickly pear cactus and the pictures make it a worthwhile read. It is a fascinating book that makes you come into unison with the natural beauty of Southern Arizona.
