Author Biography

Born in Poland, Adam Wodyk is a science fiction and fantasy addict. He has always been interested in writing and creating fictional worlds as literature was always his first and primary passion. His favorite author is C.S. Lewis. "That Hideous Strength" by Lewis was one of the books that ignited Adam Wodyk’s desire to write a sci-fi story.

"The Lord of the Rings", "The Chronicles of Narnia" and dystopian stories such as "The Hunger Games" also had a huge impact on his writing. In 2020 he completed his first book in the dystopian genre: "The Dystopia Game", set in the futuristic world of the Seven Metropolises. Two other works – epic fantasy novels – the alternative versions of the same story, completed a few years ago, are waiting to be edited and translated. Adam Wodyk is also fascinated by movies and screenwriting. In his free time, he works on developing his novels and ideas and turning them into TV or web series projects.

A Legend of the Sailors is the first book in Flame, Light and Song series by Adam Wodyk. The crewmembers of the Nefelgar embarked on an ambitious quest to search for nurit, a valuable ore found in the treacherous waters of the Rocky Lowlands in the West Sea. They got what they were looking for. But on their way back to the Port of Agramant, a malevolent entity attached itself to the Nefelgar, sowing dissent and chaos among the sailors. Twenty-two-year-old chronicler Enidor is suddenly plagued by nightmares of monstrous creatures, leading him to the brink of madness so that he's on the verge of ending his own life. However, the King of Light, Elnarin, comes to his rescue. Will the other sailors be able to get rid of the darkness that seems to permeate every nook and cranny of the Nefelgar?

An absorbing dark fantasy novel with underlying biblical themes, A Legend of the Sailors is a stellar start to a promising saga. Adam Wodyk's gripping narrative seamlessly incorporates elements of horror, fantasy, and thriller genres, combining them into a potent mix to create a fascinating tale steeped in mystery, lore, suspense, and intrigue. The author really excels in creating a dark and foreboding atmosphere, and as a reader, you find yourself completely immersed in a setting filled to the brim with tension and dread. But still, the ending leaves you with a sense of hope and validates the power of redemption. The world-building is fantastic, and as far as the characters go, Enidor and Vedron were my favorites of the bunch. If you're a fan of fantasy stories that feel like mythological tales, this will be right up your alley!
