A Simple Twist of Fate is a murder mystery by T.J. Medeiros. David Stone worked for Javier at Golden Gate Park for over three years while attending college. David and Benton were classmates at Stanford College, and after David approached Benton with his start-up idea for Stone Technologies, the two became close. When Javier came across a wooden box filled with notebooks in the Golden Gate Park, he asked David Stone to see whether it would be worth selling. Detective Terry Eckhart was called to the scene after the remains of Javier and a woman were discovered in a burned-out house. Terry suspected that this was not an accident, even if all the evidence suggested that Javier had killed himself and that the woman was only a victim.

A Simple Twist of Fate: A Terry Eckhart Detective Novel by T.J. Medeiros was complex and intriguing. It was fast-paced, and the suspense kept me in my seat. I was hooked from the first page until the end and turned the pages as fast as possible. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what would happen next and could not put the book down. The characters were authentic and relatable. Terry struggled with his previous case and was glad there was no wife to call about Javier’s death. He and Nick investigated all leads to find the connection between the two cases. This masterfully written story interweaves several plots. It had all the components of an outstanding murder mystery, and I was surprised by the ending, which I neither anticipated nor saw coming.
