Aaliyah P. Confronts Mean Mr. Virus! by Lucinda Weeks is the 14th book in the series. Join Aaliyah as she goes on an unusual adventure inside her home. She is home-schooled and spends time with her parents as everything around her is shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Aaliyah learns to lend a hand in cleaning the house to combat the virus. Eventually, essential goods like toilet paper, disinfectants, and sanitizers run out at supermarkets. This compels Aaliyah to make disinfectants and hand sanitizers at home with her mother. She is also worried about Nana Jana and Nana Barb since seniors are more prone to the virus.
Aaliyah P. Confronts Mean Mr. Virus! provides insight into the world that Aaliyah created inside her home during the lockdown. Lucinda Weeks writes with a positive tone, and her style is easy to comprehend, with bright illustrations that make reading delightful. The book invites young readers to adapt to various situations and prepares them for any challenges. Through Aaliyah's experience, the author clears up myths and doubts regarding the virus. She adds COVID protocols on each page creating awareness, which is a perfect way to introduce children to the virus and ways to fight it. It can also be used to enhance the reading and comprehension skills of young readers. Children and their grandparents will have fun reading the book together. I think that the collection of The Little Adventures of Aaliyah P. should be added to school libraries and homes to promote interactive learning and knowledge.
