Abby discovers a painting while searching through some of the antique stuff in the basement and she shares this find with Holly. The painting has a strange key pinned behind it but there is no obvious indication of what the key is supposed to open. They suspect the key may be tied to the events that are linked to their visit to the past via the magical stairway. The girls are determined to investigate it despite both of their mothers' best efforts to discourage them. The girls are resolute in their decision and recruit their ghostly friends on this new adventure. Answers to the buried secrets of years past will come to light in Abby & Holly Series, Book 5: The Copper Key by Janice Spina
The Copper Key is the continuation of a series of adventures our two heroines, who happen to be cousins, embark on. The storyline is simple enough to follow and the way Janice Spina lines up the clues creates a feeling of suspense that grows as you immerse yourself in the plot. The time-traveling aspect of the story is quite a nice touch especially when you consider that the mechanism by which it takes place is unconventional. The interaction between the girls is filled with humor and fun guaranteed to attract young readers of adventure novels. The Copper Key is a lovely story with several positive things about it. It may be targeted at the youth, but it still delivers entertaining light reading for all ages.
