In Aclaracion by Michael Chavez, the author has taken a very sensitive subject, not only in the gay community but in communities in general, and treated it with sensitivity and the utmost respect for all concerned both in this book and for those who reading it. Michael catches the reader's attention from the opening chapter and holds it until the very last page and the twist in the ending, which is most unexpected. The main characters are Marty (Martin), and Neil Michael Warran (Neho). There are also minor characters that the reader will meet on the way, both good and bad, that bring the story of Marty and Neho to life as they relive what they went through as a guy couple in the 1970s and forward.

Aclaracion will hold the reader enthralled and they will find themselves reading at all hours of the night to find out the true and full story of the main characters. Michael Chavez has used the Spanish word 'aclaracion' (meaning 'seeking clarity'), which helps not only the main characters but many of the minor characters to face the obstacles in their lives. The story is not only pertinent to the gay community with its intensity and the fact that men do get assaulted but in society as a whole. Men don’t like to talk about what has happened as they seem to think that because they are men, they should be able to fight and get away. But there are always many factors that prevent certain things from happening and there are times when you cannot blame yourself when you do not react quickly enough. This was a heartbreaking yet heartwarming book and is well worth more than one read. Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderfully inspiring book.
