Adam and Ava Are Not Taken by Betty Collier is a story with a compelling message for young children. It is about twin siblings, Adam and Ava. Being young is not always easy. Adam comforts his sister, Ava, and changes her skewed and incorrect outlook on a topic that scared her. Ava saw a scene on the television that she misinterpreted. It left her fearful and close to tears. Adam observes his sister’s unhappiness. He asks her to tell him about it. Adam is the voice of reason. After hearing what she has to say, he rectifies her misinterpretation in a kind and empathetic way. He uses another example in the past to convince her otherwise. Young Ava listens to her patient brother before things finally make sense.

Adam and Ava Are Not Taken by Betty Collier is a tool to engage young, impressionable, and developing minds. The beautiful, sweet illustrations by Cassandra Harris will attract and capture the attention of young readers. The story has a purpose. Children need the reassurance that they can trust their parents. Their parents are there to protect and nurture them as best they can. It is one of those books for leaving in a child’s reading corner. This way, it will be within reach all the time. In addition, the book presents the message of safety entertainingly in a way that young children will appreciate. It is like a picture book and a self-help book for children without them even knowing it!
