Alfonzo by S.W. Frank is the first book in the Alfonzo book series. This series follows a young gangster named Alfonzo Diaz. In the first book, we learn about Diaz's gangster ways and his mental battle about keeping up with the street life and going legit. After a horrible tragedy that seems to follow him around like the plague, he meets a beautiful girl named Selange who will make all the difference in his life. Will this thug be able to make a smooth transition to being a full time Mafia don?
I enjoyed Alfonzo by S.W. Frank from beginning to end. The author did an amazing job of blending the street life with the more polished Mafia life. As someone who doesn't enjoy pure romance, this book was wonderful at blending mystery and suspense with a sizzling love story. I mean some scenes literally scorch the pages. I got so caught up in the relationship between Alfonzo and Selange. The plot twists and the ever developing story line just rolls through the pages. There is never a dull moment because every bit of it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Every character has a purpose, no matter how big or small, and there are no wasted chapters or pages. My only complaint is that some events towards the end of the book happened a bit too quickly to be totally believable, but that didn't leave me totally unsatisfied with the ending. This book is perfect for those who love street lit, romance, action, or a blend of all these things. I know I can't wait to read the rest of this sexy, fun series.
