An Army of Lies is a thrilling murder mystery story by Ryan Spell. Angelo Barsotti is a private investigator in New York City struggling to overcome the grief of his wife's unsolved murder from two years ago. After the tech mogul Grant Dogon seeks his help to solve the murder of his friend and coworker Craig Mazer's wife, Helen, Angelo reluctantly takes on the case. But as he delves deeper into the investigation, alongside his best friend, Lewis Pollard, Angelo discovers that things aren't as they seem and that Grant had been hiding secrets about Dogon Tech that can have huge ramifications on the case. Additionally, he befriends a woman called Vanesa Gallowy, who tells Angelo that the people responsible for his wife's death are the same ones hunting her. Can Angelo and Lewis bring the culprits to justice?
Fast-paced and soaked in mystery, intrigue, and suspense, An Army of Lies takes you on an unpredictable ride full of twists and turns you never see coming. Ryan Spell's first installment of The Angelo Barsotti series is an absolute pageturner that flies by without a single hitch. Spell wastes no time putting us amid things, weaving an intricate plot that takes off briskly and keeps your eyes glued to the pages until the end. Angelo's backstory remains a mystery that will probably be tackled in the sequels. I enjoyed it and can recommend it to all murder mystery readers.
