...And She Named Him Chance is a work of fiction in the literary, interpersonal drama, and spiritual writing genres. Penned by author Roberts Essex, this immersive work chronicles the life of Chance Brogdon, a man whose essence is shaped by his rich family heritage and the challenges of a tumultuous era. Set in Savannah, the story spans twenty years of geopolitical turmoil, civil rights struggles, and scientific advances. Chance's journey is marked by his devotion to God, and service in law enforcement, medicine, and the military. Despite facing trials and temptations, Chance's faith and the teachings of his mother guide him, especially when Satan tests him during life's peak moments. His story is one of resilience, faith, and love for his son. The author offers a profound exploration of a man's development and the factors that shape his essence from a very intimate, personal perspective.

Chance Brogdon’s journey through a period of significant historical events provided a rich backdrop that made his personal growth even more compelling, juxtaposing the changing world around him with his inner development and turmoil. I really enjoyed the narrative perspective, with every detail of Chance’s speech, thoughts, and actions telling us something new about his development. Chance's unwavering faith and dedication to public service was a constant element of inspiration that went down to his very core, reflecting a life lived with purpose and integrity and enabling us to admire and root for him all the more. The importance of family and spiritual guidance was also a key theme that bubbled away nicely beneath the slow-burning plot. The depiction of Chance’s struggles and triumphs, especially his battles with temptation and adversity, is a strong reminder of the resilience required to stay true to one's values. ...And She Named Him Chance by Roberts Essex is a deeply contemplative and truly literary work that fans of resonant, accomplished storytelling are sure to enjoy.
