Legend: An Immortal Detective's Mystery by Yu Koo is a murder mystery novel that follows Finn Parker, an immortal detective with millennia of wisdom, as he unravels a complex case involving police corruption. Finn meets Jenny Hunter, the sister of Zachery, a formidable police officer who was dubbed a cop killer at the time of his death. Jenny believes this accusation is part of a larger cover-up. With her brother unable to defend himself, Jenny turns to Finn to clear his name. Finn works with his billionaire friend, Leon Chase, to uncover the truth. As they delve deeper into the case, they unearth dark secrets from the past. Finn begins to sense that sinister forces are at play, influencing those involved in the investigation. He navigates a web of conspiracies, revealing unsettling truths behind a series of police murders and family tragedies.

Legend captivates readers by exploring themes of justice, mortality, and the unseen powers that shape human destiny. Set in the haunting city of Nordholm, the narrative has a noir feel. Finn is the story's focal point; his unique mannerisms, deep thoughts, and daily habits, such as cooking and reading novels, make him an intriguing character with whom readers can easily connect. Yu Koo masterfully combines mythic lore with gritty detective work. She skillfully builds the clues to the case, unveiling the truth in subtle yet impactful moments. The psychological elements of the story thoughtfully examine the influence that manipulative individuals exert on others. This invites readers to reflect on the nature of free will, questioning whether their choices are truly their own or swayed by unseen forces. Overall, Legend is a thought-provoking exploration of perception and control. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and highly recommend it to fans of psychological thrillers, noir mysteries, and investigative dramas.
