This s a review of the audio book, "Apocalypse Scenario 683: The Box" by Mira Grant. This story grew on me. This tale grabbed my attention and held it. My chief complaint is the length of the story. It left me wanting more. Ms Grant teases her fans with just a smidgeon of a story with a large plot and a bold cliff hanger. The premise of the story is a group of friends gathered for dinner and game night. For the past fifteen years they had played the apocalypse game, where they plotted the destruction of the world. Could this scenario be more than a game?

This story is very frightening. From the moment I heard the music that set the tone, I knew this was going to be a very alarming experience. Cole is one of the main characters and yet she is present only in recorded voice. I do not want to share too many details or it will spoil it for other readers. It left me with questions. Do we will really know the people we think of as friends? Could they have secrets? What if we had to decide who was going to survive in an apocalypse? Listening to the voice of Cole gave me chills. How could anyone be so calm and peaceful discussing a scenario where the whole population could be destroyed?

Grant not only pens this tomb, she also reads it. Her intonation is perfect. If Grant can create this much tension and suspense in such a short story just think of what she can accomplish in a full length novel. I will be looking for more of Mira Grant’s art.
