Bare: The Misplaced Art of Grieving and Dancing by Sandy Oshiro Rosen is a story of grieving and it's also the author's personal view on grief and grieving. Vanessa is a week away from the birth of her first child and she senses all is not well. When she is being told by the doctors that her baby has died, her sister gives birth to a son in the same hospital, at the same time. Every birthday of her nephew is a painful reminder of her own loss. Vanessa's painful ordeal and her going for dance class throws light on the effects of dance on one's body, soul and mind. It's a story of loss, pain, recovery and healing.

The book speaks about the misplaced understanding of grieving through the story of Vanessa and her loss. The story has a very fresh approach with the undertones of dance, linking grief and creativity in a unique way. Grief is always a physical manifestation and the author says that physical expression is the best way to get rid of it and give the soul relief. Sorrow and loss are constants in life and Vanessa's story is inspirational.

Releasing pain through creativity is very motivational and the author's words to use one's artistic breath to transform the world around you is very inspirational, profound and uplifting, and can be easily practiced too. The book gives readers the ability to break free from the pattern of grieving after a loss and change the course of their lives. An absolutely breath-taking book on grief and dancing. The author does an excellent job linking them both.
