Barry ZeVan: My Life Among The Giants, A Memoir is a collection of memoirs written by Barry ZeVan. While many will recognize him as The Weatherman, ZeVan's presence in show business has seen him in a variety of roles and often in the company of those he refers to as Giants. He began his career as a child singer and actor, training at the Lodge Professional Children's School in Manhattan, along with fellow students Sal Mineo, Charlie Moss, Carol Lynley, Leslie "Uggams" Crane, and a host of others who would go on to star on stage or screen. When he was seventeen, he decided to join the U.S. Air Force which was offering G.I. Benefits for six months of active service and 7 1/2 years of reserves. When asked to select his service job, ZeVan reflected on his love of astronomy and figured meteorology would be a good fit. That decision would change the course of his life. In this memoir, ZeVan shares his remembrances of his early life with his mother and grandfather, and he discusses the successes, uphill struggles and surprises that he's encountered during his decades in show business as an actor, interviewer, author, documentary maker and weatherman.

Barry ZeVan: My Life Among The Giants, A Memoir is a fascinating collection of stories and anecdotes shared by a most amiable author. Those recollections, based on his attendance at Lodge and the continuing friendships he's enjoyed with the other alumnae of that institution, are fabulous. ZeVan is an enthusiastic and accomplished writer who quickly charmed his way into my life as he shared the ups and downs of his personal and professional life. His stories about the many showbiz celebrities and political personages are priceless, and I, for one, am also quite pleased that Jerry Stiller urged him to write this book. His memories and insights into those who are in the public eye are culturally and historically precious indeed. I loved reading about his ski shows and films, and the many interviews he hosted. ZeVan also includes a number of photographs from his early life and those taken with friends, including Woody Allen, Jerry Stiller, and Jimmy Durante, and going through them is a treat. Barry ZeVan: My Life Among The Giants, A Memoir is most highly recommended.
