In Before the Couch: Simple and Surprising Help for Christian Couples, he shares his experiences to explain how to achieve a harmonious relationship and rediscover what love is.
I loved Dr. Bill Senyard's writing style because it feels like chatting with a friend who is there to help you. He provides the right ideas, hope, and encouragement. He expresses himself in a relaxed manner, using a touch of humor, and explains common situations, making it easy to relate to the ideas. He also recommends books, music, and other resources. He doesn't judge and teaches us not to be hard on ourselves to regain confidence. For example, when he talks about feelings of loneliness, he mentions that it's not our fault to feel that way. But when we recognize it, it's fundamental to analyze its origin. In this way, he advises us to organize our thoughts and identify the real problems. A significant portion of his explanations relies on the Bible and principles of faith. He reminds us that love comes from within and cannot be forced. In Before the Couch, he offers a new perspective on life and love based on trust in God and the Holy Spirit.
