Benny and the Ducks by Lorrie Brown is based on the true story of friendship between the animals. When Benny came to his new home, he was a small, scared fawn. But the ducks - Pip, Squeak, and Squirt - befriended him, and soon they were all playing happily in the garden, splashing in the pool, and sleeping warmly huddled together in the shed. Then Benny started growing, and one day, he decided to see what lay behind the fence and jumped over. Outside, he met all kinds of friendly animals, ran around freely, bathed in the creek, and slept in the afternoon in an open field with enough room to stretch out. When he got back home, the ducks were waiting for him, and he promised to show them around outside the next day. And sure enough, they all had a great time exploring and came back to the garden in the evening to rest.

Benny and the Ducks is a gentle, kind tale about the animals at the private woodland sanctuary, owned by Lorrie Brown. This is the second book in the Brown Hiking Trails Adventures series. Kids will love meeting the animals, and young readers can follow them on Instagram and YouTube. The illustrations by Remesh Ram capture all the quirks and playfulness of the deer, ducks, dogs, and cats living together in harmony. The book opens up a world of nature that is built on friendships between different species, making it an important teaching tool as well as a heartwarming read. Highly recommended for families, kindergartens, libraries, daycares, and schools.
