"Best in Show" is a fun book about looking deeper inside a dog show. If your child is an animal lover this is a must read book. I used to show dogs and it is always fun to look at the beautifully groomed dogs, and how they prance. Having diversity in the characters is a nice touch to add to the story.
The illustrations by Fian Arroyo depict the story wonderfully, and the colors are vibrant with lots of elements to look at in each drawing. The book is easy to read and will be a delight for any child. The dogs are all groomed, bathed and clipped without one hair out of place. Who will win the top dog prize with so many beautiful dogs to choose from? Which one will your child pick? It was fun to look at the illustrations as the owners took on characteristics of their own dogs. This could also be a counting book to see how many dogs entered the show. Ask your child to be the judge. Which dog will win? Then expect an unpredictable surprise that will delight any dog loving child. This is an all-around fun book for any age. Look for the Big Questions and Big Word section at the end of the story. Sometimes small books can pack a powerful punch and instill a great message!
