Black Hole Radio: Furilani by Ann Birdgenaw is an action-packed adventure of friendships and the power of teamwork. It takes young readers on a thrilling ride as Hawk and his friends, Matt and Celeste, embark on an interstellar escapade to the colorful and unpredictable planet of Furilani. They discover an ancient radio that transports them to Furilani, a planet filled with colorful landscapes, alien cultures, and fascinating creatures like Sploots. The story explores themes of loyalty, bravery, and standing up for what’s right while maintaining a lighthearted and entertaining tone perfect for young readers. The protagonist, Hawk, and his loyal friends, Matt and Celeste, are at the center of the narrative. Their camaraderie and unique abilities, like Celeste’s telekinesis and Hawk’s determination, drive the story forward.

Ann Birdgenaw’s world-building is vibrant and creative, with vivid descriptions of Furilani’s landscapes from pink forests to steaming hot springs and bustling alien marketplaces.
