"Blood Ransom" is an exciting adventure set in the Republic of Dhambizao. Natalie Sinclair is working to improve the living conditions for the least fortunate in this country. Chad Talcott is a doctor there from the U.S., for the same reason. The two come together for a seemingly impossible mission looking for Ghost Soldiers (men who abduct entire tribes to work in mines as slaves). They travel across the country attempting to discover more about this underground slave trade and stop a political coup.

While this page-turning suspense did seem a little far-fetched at times, I was completely involved in the story and characters. The mystery (who to trust) kept me guessing until close to the end. The romance was sweet although we were told, rather than shown, the characters' feelings. The characters, overall, were well developed. The plot was creative and original. "Blood Ransom" is the first in the Mission Hope series, and I look forward to more.
