Camino to Love by Yolanda Elso-Ponzo is a travel romance that takes the heroine, Lily, to Pamplona in Spain during the Festival of San Fermin. Lily is fulfilling her deceased father’s dream to visit Spain after finding a money-filled envelope. Her grandfather fought in the Spanish Civil War, and he passed a connection to the land onto her father. In turn, Lily’s father always had a fascination for the country, fueled by Hemingway’s novel about traveling to the Festival of San Fermin where the famous Running of the Bulls occurs every year. Lily sets out with her best friend, Jade, to embark on an adventure in a foreign land. Amongst the festivities, World Cup football is also being played and watched by fans all over the city where Lily meets the enigmatic and moody Miguel.

Author Yolanda Elso-Ponzo writes an absorbing short romance that draws readers in with its exotic backdrop, introducing a bit of the vibrant Spanish culture by detailing events and traditions surrounding the Festival of San Fermin. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the history and customs of the region and the Spanish people. The plot had me interested throughout as Lily and Miguel’s romance blossomed and they ran into many trials that tested their feelings. There were unique surprise twists in the storyline that added to the suspense of the week-long festival of San Fermin. I did not want the festival or the story to end so soon and wanted more of Camino to Love.
