KC Martin's City In Fear is set in Portsmouth, England, and depicts a series of horrific child abductions and murders in the city. The story is told through three main perspectives: the killers (Susan and Alex) and the determined Sergeant Charlie Jones, who plans to stop these twisted killers at all costs. Susan and Alex meticulously stalk and kidnap children from neglected homes—after which they carry out their sadistic acts, leaving no evidence for the police to find. Charlie, on the other hand, faces various difficulties while working on the case. He encounters internal corruption within his division and a legal system that makes his job more challenging. As Portsmouth succumbs to panic and anger, it is up to Charlie to stop Susan and Alex before they hurt more innocent children. Will he be able to bring justice to Susan and Alex's victims?

KC Martin's City In Fear is a dark crime thriller that will have you spellbound from start to finish. Although the novel can be shocking and grim at times, it explores some meaningful themes. It offers a deep look at how society and systems fail the vulnerable—in this case, children. Through Charlie's riveting investigation, the author shows how issues like substance abuse, neglect, poverty, and childhood trauma can create a vicious cycle of cold-blooded and remorseless killers. Charlie's role as an ever-vigilant and persistent investigator cleverly exposes the moral and psychological effects involved in police work, especially in cases where child abuse is concerned. Martin alludes to a crucial point—communities and social institutions (not just families) are responsible for protecting vulnerable groups. City In Fear will appeal to readers who enjoy deep, thought-provoking crime thrillers.
