Nola Nash’s Crescent City Sin: Book 2 in The Crescent City Series continues after Zéolie’s resurrection. With the help and care of Mother Micheaux, Zéolie tried to go back to how her life was before. Of course, there were some changes. She had to live with the pain that Louis, the love of her life, was no longer with her. One day, a bashful young man by the name of Julien came knocking on her door, looking for his long-lost mother. However, the name of his mother was not familiar to Zéolie or anyone else in town. Zéolie wanted to help the young man who came all the way from France to New Orleans looking for his mother, so she warmly welcomed him to her humble home. She and the Marchon girls tried to help him locate his missing mother. While new friendships were made, Julien found himself mysteriously attracted to Zéolie, but his feelings were sadly not reciprocated as Zéolie’s heart still beat for Louis, though he was no longer there. Feeling angry and heartbroken, Julien unleashed a power he was not aware of. The unexpected events caused a chain reaction and unlocked dark secrets from the past. Will Zéolie be able to handle the secrets her family hid from her? Will she finally settle her unfinished business and move on?
Crescent City Sin by Nola Nash is an action-packed and addictive story filled with unexpected plot twists. I felt so drawn to this book and I had trouble putting it down once I started. I flipped through the pages eagerly; each chapter left me wanting more until I finally reached the inevitable end. Each portion was so interesting and the plot so well-constructed that it was a pleasure to read the entire thing! All of the characters left a strong impact; they were well-written and had distinct personalities that made most of them memorable. Of course, Zéolie was definitely my favorite character out of them all. She was compassionate, brave, and strong-willed, but she had a short temper and was stubborn sometimes. She was imperfectly perfect and so relatable. I followed her story enthusiastically and cheered for her during the most difficult times. To sum it up, I really loved reading book two of the Crescent City Series. If there ever is a next book, I will most definitely be looking forward to it!
