Author Biography

- I was a singer for many years before working in the film industry in the costume department. Both careers are feast or famine. During famines, when looking for work as a singer, I wrote songs, and between film engagements, I wrote novels. I have always poured my heart out onto the inviting blank pages in times of trouble. I am an avid reader and gardening is my other passion.

Daniela by Behira Graham is a story of love and loss in 70s Europe. We follow Daniela as she makes her way from conservative Israel to liberal London with a few stops in between. She does many jobs in order to keep her dream of a life in London alive. From waitress to au pair to dancer, she wears many hats to make it work for her. Between her constant moving and living out of a red suitcase, we are introduced to many colorful characters who play an integral part in her life and many a strange situation to test her will and strength. From sexual liberation to the occasional drug use, naïve Daniela is caught up in the scene. Still emotionally bruised from losing the love of her life, she tries hard to pick up the pieces of her broken heart. This is a story of hope, love, loss, and opportunity in the torrent that was 1970s London. We live through Daniela’s eyes, seeing every up and down, setback, and victory one life can endure.

Daniela by Behira Graham is a very unconventional read. The character was easy to like but following her journey was a little harder. One cannot fall into this story that easily but it grows on you. I loved how her heart was set on making it to London even if she didn’t have a plan. Her determination was something to be admired. Her heart is what makes this such an endearing story because, even broken-hearted, Daniela was still strong. She has a special place in the reader's mind; one could almost feel her anguish at the loss of her loved one. It was easy to understand her; she is a very transparent character who went through a lot to live her dream. In the end, it’s the dream that drives the character into the person she eventually becomes.
