The Night’s Embrace is a dark cult led by Sebastian Graves, whose ambitions know no bounds. The cult wants to open a portal between the worlds and summon Nyx, a horrible goddess of night and chaos. Will the Department of Anomalous Affairs spoil their plans? Lead Investigator Morgan Thorne, Occult Analyst Evelyn Blackwood, Cryptid Analyst Jackson Reynolds, and the youngest team member, Lucas Reed, hope to stop the cultists before it's too late. Lucas must make a hard decision, and Jackson encounters Thistle, a legendary creature from the heart of Tillamook State Forest. Also troubled by the cult's activities, Thistle makes a surprising offer. Under the scrutinizing eye of the mysterious Peerage, the Department of Anomalous Affairs prepares for the battle with the destructive forces. Dark Summoning by James Anderson Foster, the first book in the Department of Anomalous Affairs series, is a captivating read for fans of urban fantasy, drama, adventure, and paranormal fiction.

James Anderson Foster's Dark Summoning is a character-driven story of courage, hope, and the fight against evil. Morgan is a tough investigator who saw unimaginable things during his career. Yet he is noble enough to put his life at risk for a colleague if needed. Evelyn is seemingly fragile. But we should always remember that looks can be deceiving. Jackson is my favorite character. He understands cryptids and loves adventures. Lucas and his unexpected decisions add a convincing element of drama to the narrative. Sebastian Graves represents the destructive pride and self-exaltation that bring nothing good. The book has a compelling mythological twist. Thistle is a bearer of ancient wisdom. The author's beautiful writing style fully expresses the uncanniness of Thistle's nature. The book is action-packed and engaging. James offers distinguished world-building, thrilling twists and turns, and a revealing ending that gets us hooked on this compelling series.
