Author Biography

Armed with a degree in animal biology, I set out to work in research. However, I chose to be a homemaker once I became a mom. The journey into motherhood allowed me to visit another passion of mine, writing. I spend my days taking care of my family, who is the inspiration for most of my writing and photography.

This story sprung from a scary thought that came to me one Halloween night many moons ago when I was a teenager. I was home alone giving candy to trick-or-treaters, mindlessly opening the door wide open to anyone who rang the doorbell. And then I thought, what's to stop anyone from forcing their way in here right through the front door. That spooky thought never left me, and it turned into this story.

A mother battles her fear to save her daughter from intruders in the thriller Dark was the Night by Tania Lorena Rivera. Lucie has an abnormal fear of the dark. It has haunted her since childhood. After years of battling it, Lucie's husband Michael convinces her to get therapy. After one session, Lucie isn't sure the doctor can help but decides to try anyway. On Halloween night, while Michael is away on a business trip, Lucie and her four-year-old daughter, Natalie, hand out candy to the neighborhood children. Toward the end of the night, three costumed intruders push their way into Lucie's home. They separate Natalie from Lucie, and they beat Lucie within an inch of her life, with the house in darkness while they wait for Michael to come home. What do the intruders want from Lucie and Michael? Can Lucie break free of her fear and save her daughter before it is too late?

Dark was the Night by Tania Lorena Rivera is a heart-stopping suspense novel. It is a sensational thriller that had me on the edge of my seat until I reached the explosive conclusion. Containing frightening life-threatening scenes, the intensity of Lucie's dilemma gains momentum as the drama continues to unfold. Well-written, the riveting storyline has a few unexpected twists that had me guessing until the end. Lucie has a sad and complicated aspect that gives her character a dash of realism, and it is gratifying to watch her evolve and grow as the story comes to a close. This book will thrill and chill everyone who relishes heart-stopping thrillers starring flawed heroines.
