David was the youngest son of a family of shepherds who helped take care of the sheep. Because of his humility, no one believed he would become king, but he was a good person, acted nobly, and helped when he had the chance. David, The Great King about King David from the Bible tells this significant story and explains the lesson. K.A. Mulenga revisits the Bible story in a manner that young readers will enjoy. This is a great way to create a reading routine so that when children are older, they can read and analyze the Bible more easily. Short Bible stories with morals will have a positive impact on their lives because no matter what age a reader is, Bible lessons change minds and attitudes while making life more meaningful.
I liked David, The Great King because by reading Bible stories with pictures, children can visualize the situation and this helps them absorb the meaning. The illustrations are simple and easy to understand. The lesson of this story is useful and can be applied in daily life by reminding us that we should not be intimidated by what we see or hear. I believe that the Bible is a lifestyle guide that helps us to be aware of our relationship with God and this book gives children the opportunity to strengthen it. K.A. Mulenga does well in presenting a thought-provoking narrative with a powerful moral and positive impact on young readers' minds.
