Depths of a Teenage Mind is a poetic compilation written by Andrew Mills. Conveying myriad emotions, each of the poems - which differ in length - clearly expresses heartfelt loss, love, nature, desperation, misery and loneliness. Titles in this compilation include Dark Streets, Societal Pressures, Floodgates, Secrets, Railway, The Meeting Of Eyes, Summer Air, Encouraged Terrorism, Longing, Grandfather, Beauty, Gravity, The Average Day, Midnight, A Solitary Clock, Life’s Idle Thoughts, Gentle Waters, Candle Stick, Days, Left Behind, Dreams of a Wandering Soul, and How They Fall.

While all of the featured poems deal with the pressures faced by a teenager in today’s society, I found Railway to be one of the most gut-wrenching cluster of words I have ever laid eyes on. The loneliness and immense sadness contained within these three verses reached inside to my very soul, causing a tear to roll down my cheek; the writing style is magnificent and extremely expressive. Another title which grabbed me was Encouraged Terrorism, showing how people rejoice and go about their everyday lives as others are senselessly killed by bombs, often not knowing why. Every news station, every social media outlet and newspaper – they all carry news of those screaming for our help as we take our peaceful days for granted. With most of the remaining poems being of love lost, love from afar and of missing a loved one, I could definitely relate to the words expressed by Andrew Mills and thoroughly enjoyed this compilation of poems. I recommend Depths of a Teenage Mind to readers who enjoy deep, emotional messages which bring realistic undertones to the surface. In a nutshell: Wow.
