Author Biography

Bestselling and award-winning author James M. Corkill is a Veteran, and retired Federal Firefighter from Washington State, USA. He was an electronic technician and studied mechanical engineering in his spare time before eventually becoming a firefighter for 32-years and retiring. He has since settled into the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina, and has a fantastic view from his writing desk.

He began writing in 1997, and was fortunate to meet a famous horror writer named Hugh B. Cave, who became his mentor. In 2002, he rushed to self-published a dozen copies of Dead Energy so his wife could see his book published before she was taken by cancer. When his soul mate was gone, he stopped writing and began drinking heavily.
His favorite quote. “When you wake up in the morning, you never know where the day will take you.”

In 2013, he met a stranger who recognized his name and had enjoyed an old copy of Dead Energy, except for the ending. When she encouraged him to start writing again, he realized this chance meeting was just what he needed to hear at the right moment. He quit drinking and began the rewrite of Dead Energy into The Alex Cave Series. Now he is a bestselling and award-winning author and thankful for that fateful encounter.

James M. Corkill’s DNA is the sixth book in The Alex Cave Series and it is an interesting treat for sci-fi fans. A ground-breaking scientific discovery, an ancient prophecy about to be fulfilled, and impending doom on earth are a great combination when deftly woven into a science fiction story, and James M. Corkill does the job with unique skill and expertise. Geneticist Zane Simon’s discovery can save lives, but not everyone’s life, so seven billion people could be left to die. When Alex Cave, a renowned geologist, meets Mya Austin, an archaeologist with a deadly secret - a prophecy that spells doom - and who seems to know exactly when this could happen, he begins to question everything he knows. Alex is faced with a terrible dilemma — should he join the few to be saved or try to stop the threat to humanity?

This is a bold work that asks powerful questions. The author doesn’t shy away from considering mankind’s destiny at stake. The conflict is phenomenal and the reader will appreciate the sense of urgency communicated in the narrative style. The story is told in a voice that is strong, even hypnotic. Character development is top-notch and the reader can easily feel connected to the characters, because they are real and strongly explored. The setting comes out brilliantly and readers will enjoy the key characters as they travel unusual and exciting terrains in search of answers. James M. Corkill’s DNA grabbed my attention from the very first page with the curious description of the geneticist and his stream of consciousness. The story features great dialogues, lively and captivating. This is another great sci-fi story.
