“The butler did it. It’s always the butler.” But who has a butler these days to blame when something goes wrong or is missing? Molly Paws and her doggie sisters have discovered that another one of their doggie toys has gone missing. They’re quite concerned and wonder who could have stolen not one, but five toys. They band together and become detectives to solve the mystery. The first clue is the peanuts left behind at the bottom of the toy box. Who likes peanuts? Robbie the cardinal or Sally the raccoon? Will they find the culprit and the missing toys and what should they do if and when they find the thief? Molly Paws has another important lesson to teach in Doggie Detectives by Papa Paws.

Papa Paws' picture book Doggie Detectives is a cute, fun story about a doggie family and their quest to find their missing toys. The story is told through doggie dialogue, each comment displayed in word bubbles and accompanied by illustrations, making this format similar to a graphic novel or a comic book. Young readers will be attracted to this layout and enjoy reading the story with ease. As well as Molly Paws' important key message at the end, children will learn about teamwork, caring for each other, and forgiveness, as well as specific animals, like the cardinal, the raccoon, and the squirrel. They will also learn the number five. This is an excellent story for preschoolers to share with their adult caregivers. Loved it.
