In M.N. Wiggins’s El Dorado, Harry’s siblings wanted nothing to do with him when he went to prison. While serving time, Harry takes his cellmate Clyde under his wing. Clyde becomes the brother to Harry he always wanted. Together, Harry and Clyde learn how little power they have in a place where survival depends on trust, loyalty, and keeping their heads down. Their lives were turned upside down after they broke out of prison and escaped to Lost Cove. Lost Cove was Harry and Clyde's land of opportunity where they could start again. Surprisingly, the townspeople welcome the fugitives with open arms. Harry and Clyde receive an offer from the townspeople that will give them everything they ever wanted. They just have to accept the terms, and everything will be theirs.

El Dorado by M.N. Wiggins had me hooked from the first page. I could not wait to see what happened to Harry and Clyde, and read as fast as I could without missing out on anything. I was drawn deeper into Harry and Clyde’s new life. They were more than friends; they looked out for each other. The action moved at a brisk pace until the end. The townspeople and the surroundings of Lost Cove were steeped in mystery. I had no idea what would happen and was surprised every time. The book is excellently written and is much more than a straightforward escape story. The ending had a major twist that I did not see coming.
