Emma and Layla Save the Zoo by E.L. Brooks is the story of two little girls and their adventures at the zoo. Emma and Layla are siblings. One sunny afternoon, they visit the zoo, where their mom works as one of the keepers. Mom tells them she needs their help and hands them tiny zookeeper badges. Soon, Emma and Layla are on their way to cheer up the animals who were feeling a bit down. They dance with a flamingo who misses her friends, help a baby sloth sleep by telling him a bedtime story, play peekaboo with the penguins, sing songs to the seals, and help a goat find its lost sock. Happy with their day's work, the two sisters return home and feel proud of the way they helped those animals.

Emma and Layla Save the Zoo demonstrates how the little things we do can make a difference and change the world for the better. Author E.L. Brooks tells a profoundly inspirational tale that is packed with charm, humor, and heart. The best part of the book is undoubtedly the delightful sisterly dynamic between Emma and Layla, who bring so much warmth and joy to their fun-filled adventures. Even the animals featured here leave their mark on the reader. I found the depiction of the baby sloth adorable, and the flamingo was as charismatic as its real-life counterparts. This is the kind of story that raises your spirits. The illustrations are wonderful, as they bring out the characters' personalities and make them shine. Overall, it's a short story that will definitely entertain young readers.
