Emotions Volcano is a children's book by Jomo Jesus Thomas Suriel. On Moodswing Planet, emotions run high, and the planet's four volcanos are threatening to erupt. Superheroes Sid, who can transform emotions, and Laura, his sister who has the power to find and identify emotions, locate the source of the unease. At the school, children are concerned about a math test and emotions are starting to overflow. The situation seems beyond control, and it is difficult for Laura and Sid, who are frustrated when their powers can't help defuse the stress. When the atmosphere deteriorates their abilities, the siblings have a way to manage their feelings, hoping to calm the students and the planet's volcanoes.
Jomo Jesus Thomas Suriel gives a great example of self-regulation in this story. The author presents readers with a wonderful way to recognize emotions and mindfully cope with them. The book shows how one emotion can cause another until everything explodes. Many caregivers place a high value on educating children about emotional intelligence. Jomo Gamal Thomas's vivid illustrations perfectly complement the text and will grab a child's attention. As a mother of seven, it is important to me, and my children learned more about identifying their emotions as I read the story to them. Sometimes, they have trouble with sibling rivalry, but seeing Laura's and Sid's responses to their emotions made my children reevaluate how they plan to deal with their feelings in the future. Children who enjoy response-intensive stories with superheroes and adventure will love Emotions Volcano.
