Enclosed in this Heart is a historical romance by Regina Puckett. Twenty-eight-year-old Lady Margaret Worthington, considered too old for marriage, happily moves to Mayfield estate that she inherited from an unconventional great-aunt. The large property is managed by Colin Caswell, a man who once rejected her love. Colin resigns his position to help his aunt, Lady Tayside, when family illness occurs and he becomes the next Earl. When he meets Lady Margaret at a ball, her sister-in-law who speaks to the dead warns about a dangerous situation that looms over them. Margaret’s sister, Ann, also reveals the startling news that makes them more wary of persons around them. One of these persons is Lady Rosetta Preston, who aims to marry Colin and won’t let Lady Margaret stand in her way.
Regina Puckett’s novella, Enclosed in this Heart is Book 3 in the Closed series. It’s a very light-hearted historical romance set in 1828. The characters are interesting and the story touching in a lot of ways. Lady Margaret is strong-willed and caring. This era had a rigid protocol for persons to follow that makes me glad I live in modern times. The author’s story development is nicely defined and expressive, considering how short it is. Here is a lovely romance that has humour and a surprising turn of events one wouldn’t expect at all, given the synopsis. Based on what I’ve read, the other two books in the series have caught my curiosity. Romance readers will like Enclosed in this Heart from Regina Puckett.
