In Executive Bone Yard by Michael A. Sisti, Harold Payne acquired a new identity through the assistance of Diego Santos, known as the Brazilian. Taking on the name Gerard Morbus, he anticipated a fresh start in São Paulo. Gerard met Salete, Diego's sister, who taught him Portuguese and cultural norms so he could better communicate with the locals. After their wedding, Gerard and Salete relocated to America, where it was not long before he joined HydroDyne Technologies. Within HydroDyne Technologies, Dave Powers recognized the potential of their water-conserving system for use in housing facilities and hotels, particularly in a world grappling with climate change; however, their product struggled to gain traction, putting Dave and his partner, Ronald, on the brink of bankruptcy. Dave and Ronald believed that Gerard could rescue them from financial ruin, but Gerard had grander plans in mind.
Executive Bone Yard by Michael A. Sisti is captivating and grabbed my attention right from the start. It was a rollercoaster ride of deception, treachery, and high-stakes scams. The tension was unyielding, keeping me completely absorbed throughout. The plot unfolds through alternating chapters that explore different phases of Gerard’s life of cons, adding layers of suspense and complexity. The characters are vibrant and well-crafted, each with a detailed backstory that makes them feel authentic and grounded. While I found Gerard to be downright unlikable, his role was crucial, and his manipulative tendencies enhanced the plot's intrigue and impact. The story was well-written, and the relentless pace never slowed down. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of reading, and it held my attention from beginning to end.
