Fatal DNA by Jose Miguel Vasquez is a mystery, thriller, and suspense novel that would appeal most to a mixed audience of mature young adults and adults who enjoy fast paced murder mysteries and thrillers. An alarm signal at the house of publicist Corina Salgado is sent to a security center. Unable to get in touch with the home owner, the center dispatches a security team. They enter the house, only to find everything quiet until they reach the bedroom and find a naked woman face down on the bed, lying at an unnatural angle. A call to the police triggers a murder investigation that has Detectives Sonia Acevedo and Guillermo Montenegro on the case. The two detectives are forced to juggle a murder case on top of a hot trial. Will they catch the murderer while dealing with the trial? What does this murder have to do with genetic engineer Christian Petersen’s ground breaking new methods that could forever alter the medical field?

The narrator of this audio book was Juan Carlos Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez was the perfect narrator for this audio book as he made the entire book into a full performance with an array of realistic sound effects. For instance, at the beginning of the book, an actual alarm sound is included right after the narrator says the alarm sounded. The sound effects added an ambiance that made the story seem more enticing as I felt like I was a part of it. Mr. Rodriguez truly took this book to the next level with his character voices and sound effects.
