Feathers of Shardaa: Xeno Tryst Duology Book 2 is a work of fiction in the science fiction, space opera, and romance subgenres, and it was penned by Troy D. Wymer. The work is intended for the mature adult reading audience owing to erotic scenes that use some sexually explicit language, and some scenes of graphic violence which are pertinent to the central plot. In this concluding volume to the duology, we find ourselves back with Sierra Shalinsky as she is tasked with the tricky business of being an advocate for the repatriation of the Humolfans into society. As the tension of this plot unfolds, Sierra’s heart yearns for something deep and meaningful. Could she be falling in love?
Author Troy D. Wymer delivers a deep dive into science fiction with all the emotive and exciting trimmings of an erotic space opera as the story of the Xeno Tryst concludes. Fans of these types of books will certainly enjoy Sierra’s free and open attitude to sex and relationships, which is a refreshing change from how a lot of female central figures can be portrayed in more restrictive science fiction settings. I liked the emotional development as she explored the nature of love, and the sexual plotline melded well alongside the circumstances of the diplomatic science fiction plot at work. The worldbuilding took a bit of a back seat, but there was plenty there to back up the situations and scene set up when it was needed. Overall, I’d recommend Feathers of Shardaa to those who have read the first book in the series and want to see its epic conclusion.
