Fighting Karma is a conspiracy thriller by Reid Bracken. Cole found out that his daughter, Bree, was still alive. Bree was working for the Meng Organization, rescuing and bringing refugees into the city. Bree thought she was helping these people but discovered that Meng was using the refugees for organ harvesting. Bree bombed a seventy-story high-rise, killing hundreds of people, including CIA director Sally Mathers. Cole thought his daughter had died in the explosion and could not wait to find her. But Sally Mathers had infected Bree with a pathogen. The blue seahorse serum, which possesses extraordinary healing properties, is the only cure. Meng developed the blue serum, made from a rare seahorse, which was used in their organ trafficking operation. The CIA wants Cole to find the seahorse serum, and, in return, they will help him find Bree and give her the injection she needs.
Fighting Karma by Reid Bracken is packed with crime, murder, corruption, and conspiracy. It was fast-paced and jam-packed with action, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what would happen next, and I could not turn the pages fast enough. Different plots came together when Cole's and Bree's paths crossed. The characters were authentic and relatable. Bree was busy with her investigation when her and Cole’s paths crossed. The story had me hooked from the start, and I could not wait to see how it was going to end. The ending was a big surprise, and I did not expect it. I cannot wait to read the next book.
