Treading the course of true love is never straightforward, is it? There always seem to be more hindrances than there are clear paths. And for the main character in this rom-com novel, true love is not only a formidable challenge but also downright close to inconceivable. Find the Magic by Vik Azeem follows the life of Kevin, a sarcastic romantic who arguably embodies the proverb "lucky at cards, unlucky in love." The cliffhanging story begins at a movie theater parking lot where recent high school graduate Kevin gets struck by hopeful reality after bidding farewell to his crush Sara, which influences him to throw himself wholeheartedly into chasing his chance with romance. Blindsided by spontaneous optimism in the thick of his pursuit of love, his vehicle collides with and damages a gypsy's car. As luck would have it, it is through this ill-fated accident that Kevin's misfortune with romantic affairs is born. And the rollercoaster of emotions only gets better from there!

This captivating novel was a thrill to read. I really enjoyed the flow of it. Nothing felt strained or forced, which is one of the many qualities that makes it a remarkable book. Vik Azeem's suave writing style is unrivaled. I applaud his ingenuity and how he builds each chapter that complements the other. The storyline was easy to follow, making the reading experience more enjoyable. Funny enough, at some moments, I forgot I was reading a rom-com because Azeem doesn't use any fluffy words. Readers will find hidden gems within the dialogue, particularly between Kevin and his charismatic friend, Jimmy. Lightheartedly outstanding, Find the Magic is hands down a first-class novel. I would confidently recommend it to anyone looking for an exhilarating read, especially to those who are a sucker for love!

"I can either shrink in the heat of the moment or rise to the occasion and never look back. What's it going to be?" This is what rings in Kevin's head as he pulls out of the parking space. He wants to go after his longtime crush, who is moving to another state. He didn't tell her how he felt about her when they were saying their goodbyes, and now the only way he can see her is to make her pull over on the side of the road. However, he hits a passing Toyota Corolla before he can reach her. The car's owner is an elderly gypsy who is now one level above angry with Kevin. She threatens to curse Kevin's love life, rolls up her car window, laughs an evil demonic laugh, and drives away. Ten years later, we meet a single Kevin who has had a string of painfully short-lived relationships. You can't shake the feeling that the gypsy cursed him until he meets Jenny, a brave, strong-willed lady who sweeps Kevin off his feet. These two are the perfect couple. They are the type of couple who can find humor in even the direst situations, and you can't help but wish they would commit to a romantic relationship. But these two have unpleasant pasts that they both worry will haunt them once they decide to start a relationship. Is it possible that the gypsy indeed cursed Kevin's love life? How will he win the heart of a girl who is too afraid to try to get into a relationship? Read Find the Magic by Vik Azeem to find out.

This book was a perfect escape for me, with just the right amount of drama and subtle humor that never failed to make me laugh. The author peppers his work with lighthearted moments that will have any reader stifling chuckles. I applaud Vik Azeem for masterfully foreshadowing and foregrounding the actions that characterized each scene through well-crafted dialogue. This factor was crucial in making the plot plausible. My favorite feature is how the story never felt needlessly drawn out or monotonous. This results in the plot being character-driven. I commend the author for selecting the first-person viewpoint as the plot's primary narration method. The firsthand accounts will ring true with readers and draw them into the characters' ordinary lives. Find the Magic had everything I liked, and it made my night wonderful.

Find the Magic by Vik Azeem is about an accountant named Kevin whose love life is affected by what seems to be a self-fulfilling prophecy - a curse when it comes to romantic relationships. He believes this began right after he accidentally hit the car of a gypsy as he hurriedly chased his high school crush. He believes that she placed a curse on him and his romances. A decade and several unsuccessful relationships later, he goes to a therapist and still finds himself in a rut, until he meets Jenny Cantor, who was invited to a party at his townhouse by his best friend Larry. After a short introduction and a memorable tow-truck incident, their acquaintance developed into an intoxicating attraction. Things went pretty fast and both were happy. He was more than smitten, he was in love and the feeling seemed to be mutual and deep. Despite being turned away by Jenny after a confrontation, Kevin continued to pursue her. Is he just being a foolish romantic going against a longstanding curse or has he really, as the bartender puts it, found his magic at last?

Vik Azeem's Find the Magic is a modern romantic comedy written from the first-person perspective. It has quite an optimistic tone that uses a lot of witty dialogue, with self-deprecating and observational humor seen in his rule of three punchlines. There are some comedic moments with a little mild slapstick that works with his natural sense of timing, and rhythm. His jocular style of humor is woven into the flow of the story, character interactions, or the protagonist's introspection, making it an overall entertaining read that elicits a giggle or two along the way. The author is skilled at creating complex characters, and he gradually reveals the facets and flaws of Kevin and the supporting cast. One is left wondering whether their traits would help or hinder the outcome or even alter the course of the plot, which adds interest and thrill to the story. Recommended for readers who enjoy lighthearted, humorous, and witty rom-coms around friendship, love, and some millennial lifestyle drama.

Kevin's "play it safe" attitude to life has kept him on the straight and narrow with his work life and out of trouble when it comes to social activities but the one aspect where it seems to have held him back is his love life or so his best buddy Jimmy reasons. Jimmy believes Kevin is not making the most of his romantic dalliances and chalks it down to his fear of failing with the girls but Kevin thinks it has something to do with an unfortunate incident with an angry gypsy some years ago. Either way, Kevin knows his luck needs to change when Jenny stumbles into his life. Is he willing to give it his all this time or will his old habits return to haunt him once again in Vik Azeem's Find The Magic?

The minefield that is the dating scene is the setting for Vik Azeem's romantic novel Find The Magic. I love the way Vik fleshes out his primary character, giving a reader that interesting peep into the very weird workings of Kevin's mind and some of his oddball ideas. Jimmy's relaxed conversation style and crazy approach to solving his childhood friend's problems had me clutching my sides in laughter and reminiscing back to the wild days of my youth. With its beautiful storyline and interesting assortment of characters, Find The Magic oozes quality in bucket loads, alternating perfectly between romance and comedy at just the right intervals to create a delightful reading experience.
