In Flight KA1530 by Emily Leung, airline executives and investigators are scrambling to ascertain the events that led to a mass casualty event on Krone Airways Flight 1530. The airline and one of its vendors had been the subject of a string of mysterious events before the doomed flight, including suicides and accidental deaths of flight attendants. As officials conduct a cursory investigation into events surrounding the doomed flight, the topic of most inquiries is a flight attendant named Beatriz. Bea was a recent hire and had been acquainted with several flight crewmembers who had suffered untimely deaths. Bea was a conscientious worker who was laid off from her previous job due to a friend’s betrayal. She is desperate to retain her position but is contending with underhanded co-workers and lecherous executives who may have pushed her to the brink of sanity.
Flight KA1530 is a chilling horror novel brimming with intensity from the outset. A deadly incident has occurred, yet the mystery lies in how the flight became ground zero for unspeakable carnage. Author Emily Leung does a marvelous job of relaying the story from flashbacks and the present. Beatriz has been stung by the betrayal of those she believed to be her friends. Beatriz is a conflicted soul who finds her moral compass increasingly askew as her ambition clouds her judgment and she is unable or unwilling to stop the death and destruction around her until it’s too late. Flight KA1530 is a page turner from beginning to end.
