Forced Reaction by Steve W. Allen is a mystery thriller packed full of suspense. Luke has won the US National Lottery but it isn’t too long before he realizes he shouldn’t be celebrating just yet. Other winners appear to be dying at an unprecedented rate, all in separate accidents. Suddenly he finds that he is next on the list to be removed and decides that he isn’t going down without a fight. He discovers corruption on a huge scale, corruption that leads to the White House. He bands together with others and, as a team, they go on a mercy mission, a mission to save their own lives while attempting to stop the US economy from collapsing. Using weapons and technology, Luke plans to take the assassins out while trying to stay clear of them. His lottery ticket was worth $5 million a year for life – wouldn’t you do the same thing?
Forced Reaction by Steve W. Allen was a pretty good read. It was an interesting story, made all the more so by the fact that it could be already happening and, if it isn’t, it could be one day. I enjoyed the story, and found it to be well written and the characters well developed, lending themselves well to the setting of the story. I must say, and I don’t know if other readers will pick up on it, but I thought there was more than a hint of personal experience included in the book. I can’t pin my finger on anything specific, it was just a general feeling I got while reading it. Good book though, and I look forward to reading more.
