"From Now On" by Louise Brooks revolves around Jo Mitchell and Mark Rutledge who are coworkers. From the second they meet, they both know that they have a connection. But as both have been burned in the past, they have sworn off love and have built a wall around themselves. Or perhaps they are drawn to one another because of this very similarity. Although Jo has accepted that she needs a guy like Mark in her life, Mark has some personal reasons why he cannot decide, and then there is also the matter of Danielle, his ex-wife. You can feel what Mark is going through and how Jo is dealing with her own personal problems along with their new found love. In their own separate ways, both Mark and Jo recognize their personal demons and then decide to deal with their issues because they realize that a new beginning is possible only when the previous chapters of their lives have been closed properly.
"From Now On" by Louise Brooks is a well-written, thought provoking story which is packed with light humor and twists. It is an easy read with a serious plot about the responsibilities of a father and how he copes with personal problems. Author Louise Brooks tackles this subject with honest realism that made me really feel for her characters.
