Ghost of Widdecot Manor by Hazel Eggleton is a ghost story with a lot of mystery and adventure. Joshua decides to attend football camp when he finds out that the manor where he is staying is haunted. Everything is going fine until the ghost starts asking Joshua and Sarah for help. They find themselves in the midst of many scary and eerie adventures which help them discover the dark secret about the manor. Will Joshua and Sarah be able to find out the deep, dark, mysterious truths surrounding Widdecot Manor? Will they be safe from all evil?

There is a kind of fear and creepiness surrounding this fast paced story, making it even more interesting to a young reader. Adventure and mystery stories are always appealing to children and if there is a scary ghost or haunted house, it will add to the excitement of the book. The author has managed to weave twists, suspense, intrigue, soccer, and adventure into the plot. There is also evil and good in the story. The narration is detailed and the characters have been well formulated.

Story books of these types encourage children to be more creative and imaginative. It gives them ideas to think along the lines of being more adventurous. This is a nice story of adventure, mystery, and ghost. Children will find it exciting.
