Robin Marsh and Lauren Nelson have co-written a devotional book for teenage girls that is sure to be used over and over again! “God, Girls, and Getting Connected” addresses everyday issues that teenage girls are facing in today’s society. Using the acronym of “girl,” this devotional book is split into four sections. The first section “God” focuses on getting to know God and what He desires for His daughters. “Identity” section is all about the individual and a few of the devotionals focus on personal struggles, choices and worrying. “Relationships” is the third section and this is such a vital part of a teenage girl’s world and the last section “Life” focuses on issues that teenage girls are faced with such as how far is too far in dating relationships, social networking, peer pressure and feeling lonely.

As it is written in a conversational style, the readers will feel as if the authors are speaking straight to them, however not in a "preachy" or lecture tone that could push the reader away. I like the format of each devotional and the fact that they are short and to the point. Each devotional begins with a statement or a question from a teenage girl, the next is a “text message” (Bible verse), followed by a discussion of the topic and lastly an application that helps to apply the lesson to everyday life. With the busyness of everyday life this book is practical and will fit into a daily routine.
