Farmer Brown thought Millie was the best horse in the world and she was the most important animal on the ranch till Gus arrived. Millie thought Gus stole the spotlight from her and disliked him. Millie was going to give birth to a foal very soon and Farmer Brown asked Gus if he could stay to help as he had to go away to assist his friend with his harvest. Mrs. Brown would take care of the foal when it arrived. Though Millie was not too happy about it, Farmer Brown told her the foal was too important to have a bad delivery, and Millie agreed to it. Gus stayed by her side all the time and left her only to do his chores. Millie realized she could not do anything without Gus, and slowly they became friends. Millie felt ashamed of herself for not believing in Gus, his friendship, his love, and his loyalty.
