Gypsy: High Priestess Book One (The High Priestess Series) (Volume 1) by Matti Snook is a young adult fantasy and magical fairy tale. The stakes are high right from the start of this story. The High Priestess is murdered. In order to save her own life, the priestess' daughter and only heir must give up magic. Ivy then joins forces with the Gypsies and vows to search for her mother's killer. She pairs up with Soren Fairchild, who can move objects with his mind. Together with gypsy twins Davey and Fox, the quartet travels on a magical journey to find Ivy's lost magic and to avenge her mother. But they don't realize how dangerous this mission is. Or that the High Priestess's killer will stop at nothing to keep the lost magic hidden forever.

This is a beautifully detailed story. And very descriptive. Readers will love the way that the book whisks them away into this fairy tale land. The characters are all very likeable and realistic. Readers will relate to the friendships the quartet forms on their journey. The story is suspenseful in parts with adequate tension to keep readers turning the pages. A very well thought out story that is written in such a way to keep readers engaged and interested, but never gives away too much information too soon. The reader is forced to keep turning the pages in order to discover what happens next in this very suspenseful tale.
